Upcoming Herb Walks

I believe herbal medicine is the medicine of the people and this is what inspires me to run regular workshops, talks and herb walks, to help put this information back into your hands. I aim to encourage you to make your own remedies for simple ailments and also know when to contact a herbalist.

Herbal Talks

Herbal Allies for Menstrual Irregularities. Date TBC
As a Medical Herbalist I aim to treat the whole person and the underlying reason behind the symptoms. That can take time, and symptom relief is an important part of my treatment plans.
In this talk I will focus on heavy bleeding and pain which are major symptoms of several disorders. You will learn a select group of common herbs that can make a difference for people experiencing these symptoms. This information may provide all the help some people need, others it will give them a chance to decide whether to commit to a series of consultations.
This talk will run for approximately 45 minutes. Please email to register your interest.

A Herb approach to perimenopause/ menopause Date TBC

I will discuss what is thought to be happening in the body at this time and then look at diet, lifestyle and herbal approach in aid in making the transition smoother.

This talk will be 1.5 hours long. Please email to register your interest.

If you have another topic of interest in mind, please do also ask and I will see if I can focus a talk on that.

Important Herb Walk Information

Weather - if it is raining very hard, thunder and lightening or high winds we will reschedule. If its only light rain please bring waterproofs and a sense of humour. Please wear suitable footwear. If it's very sunny, please dress appopriately and consider sunscreen, sunhats and water. Any questions, please get in touch.

Access - If you have any health or mobility issues that may affect your ability to participate it is your responsibility to make me aware of them before the walk commences.

Minors should be accompanied by their parents or guardians at all times.

It is (rarely) possible to have an allergic reaction to some plants. Ingestion or topical use of any plant material is done so completely at your own risk. If you are (or may be) pregnant, breastfeeding, have a health condition or take medications, you are advised to only use wild plants under the direction of your Medical Herbalist, GP or Pharmacist. Walks are provided for pleasure and education purposes only and any current or future use of plants is your responsibility.

Would you like an event tailored to your group?

I am constantly looking for new groups to present talks or workshops to. Please contact me if this is of interest to you. I try to make my talks interactive and/or they have an element of demonstration involved.
I have a number of talks to chose from including:
'A Herbal Home Medicine Chest'
'Introduction to Local Herbs - this can be a herb walk or herb talk with fresh herbs'
'Herbs during the wars 1660, World War I & II'
'Herbs for the digestive system'
'Herbs for the skin'
'Roman gardens and herbs'

When to consult the herbalist:

If you are taking any medications, if you have other health issues you would like to address, if you want something tailored to your individual needs or if the above remedies are not suiting you. The herbalist will take a full case history including past medical history, drug history and family history and from this will devise a regime suitable for you.
